MR-HM 150.04 Centrifugal pump Didactic Equipment Fluids Engineering Training Equipment Description • characteristic curve of a centrifugal pump • variable speed via frequency converter
Centrifugal pumps are turbomachinesthat are used for conveying fluids. TheMR-HM 150.04 unit can be used to study acentrifugal pump and to record a typicalpump characteristic curve. The experimental unit includes a selfpriming centrifugal pump, a ball valve onthe outlet side and manometers on theinlet and outlet side. It is driven by anasynchronous motor. The speed is infinitely adjustable by using a frequency converter. A ball valve is used to adjust thehead. In experiments, the operating behaviourof the pump as a function of the flowrate is studied and displayed in characteristic curves. The motor’s speed andelectrical power are displayed digitally. Pressures on the inlet and outlet sideare displayed on two manometers. The experimental unit is positioned easily and securely on the work surface ofthe MR-HM 150 base module. The pumpdraws in water from the tank on thebase module MR-HM 150. The flow rate isdetermined volumetrically by flowingback into the measuring tank onMR-HM 150.
Learning objectives/experiments • recording the pump characteristiccurve at a constant pump speed · measuring the inlet and outlet pressure · determining the flow rate • recording the pump characteristics fordifferent speeds • power and efficiency curves · measuring the electrical drive power · determining the hydraulic power · calculating the efficiency
