1. Equipment introduction

Osborne Reynolds experiment is used to show laminar and turbulent flow. During the experiment, the transition from laminar to turbulent flow after the terminal velocity can be observed. The Reynolds number is used to evaluate whether a flow is laminar or turbulent.
MR-HM 150.18A displays streamlines during laminar or turbulent flow in color with the help of injected contrast media (ink). Experimental results can be used to determine the critical Reynolds number.
The experimental setup consists of a transparent pipe section through which water flows, with a flow-optimized inlet. Valves can be used to regulate flow in pipe sections. The ink is injected into flowing water. A layer of glass beads in the tank ensures even water flow with low turbulence.
The experimental setup can be placed easily and securely on the work surface of the MR-HM 150A basic module. The MR-HM 150A supplies water and measures the flow rate. Alternatively, the experimental setup can be operated from the laboratory water supply.
